MISSIONS

Missions Philosophy

Faith Community Church believes that missions is the priority of the local church. As Oswald Smith stated, “The supreme task of the church is the evangelization of the world”. Our Lord Jesus Christ’s last words to His disciples were concise and clear: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Since missions is the priority of our Commander in Chief, missions must also be our priority.

Missions is not to be relegated to a place of secondary importance. We want missions to permeate every area of our church life. This is so everyone in the church may participate in the Great Commission. As someone has stated, “The whole duty of the whole church is to preach the whole gospel to the whole world.

Missions Involvement Strategy

Missions’ involvement of this church is theologically mandated and philosophically incorporated in the body life dynamic of our church. Our missions’ strategy will assist us in determining to what targeted areas, to what people groups, to which missionaries, and to what missions agencies take priority in our particular church. Such priorities will be determined by the Pastor in conjunction with the Mission Team and reviewed in a timely manner so as to stay in the cutting edge of what God is doing worldwide.

Other aspects of our strategy include prayer support for missions in our church, financing missions in our church, and networking with other churches in missions.

Targeted Areas & People Groups

Though we believe that Christ died for the whole world and that the whole world must hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ, at Faith Community Church, we believe that certain areas and people groups should get priority in our efforts to be faithful to our burden and tradition. In short, our targeted areas should include, in priority, (1) Islamic people; (2) ministries in countries whose indigens are of black heritage; and (3) unreached peoples groups. Locally, urban dwellers of minority status should get priority
